We had a very special house, and we knew that we needed a real estate agent with similar gravitas. Enter Irina. On the surface she's impressive and dignified, with a razor-sharp wit and a commanding European accent. Inside, she's warm, caring and empathetic. Irina is nothing less than a real estate hero. I'm not saying that she's a hero, because she sold our house in 1 day with a full-price cash offer. She did that, but that is what we expected. What earned her the hero title was on the buy side. Time and again we were losing bidding wars, as other buyers bid over comps. We refuse to pay a premium. We expect to walk into sufficient equity so that if we need to turn around and sell the property the next day, we can recover our selling fees and finish in the black. Irina made it happen. She worked tirelessly, taking calls at all hours, even turning around documents from the top of a mountain while on her birthday weekend. She accepted the challenge and did the work. She found an off-market listing with difficult sellers, who made a number of unreasonable, changing demands amid challenging circumstances, some of which had sent previous buyers running. Irina extracted concessions for each unreasonable demand, and whipped them into line. She even had the seller’s agent reaching into his own pocket – twice – as she moved the deal to close.
